Why are quit smoking pills/programs covered under most health insurances but diet pills/programs aren't?
I understand the cancer angel of smoking but what about all the problem that are prevalent in obese people?diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease,.... they're all just as dangerous as cancer.And there are diets that work but people who don't follow them... For people that follow them but have other issues that makes them not work there are pills like the one my mother and her friend take... think its spelled 'phentermine'... my mother just started my her friend lost 50lbs. fairly quick.Oh to the people speaking to the safety of pills.... My father recently tried the stop smoking pill 'chantrix' not sure of the spelling and he found it was helping his urge to smoke but started getting insanely depressed and paranoid out of no where.Lucky I understand your point about going to the gym but there are special cases.1 My mother's friend is not just big... shes BIG She can't fit on things at the gym whether its a width problem or a lbs problem..2 Me. I was in a car accident in the summer of 06. my one arm doesn't bend which exclude all two armed machines and my ankle is messed up which stops me from doing what I love most besides my bf, running on the path of our local canal . I've gained 40lbs since my accident and can't find any workout video or cardio machine that doesn't put extreme stress on my ankle besides walking and that just doesn't cut it.

Well I finally got the pill to help me quit smoking, Monday is the big day & I am excited I don't know how it will go but I really want to quit so hopefully it will go well. My doctor gave me both chantix and wellbutrin.Anyone on here use the pill to quit smoking? Results? Likes? Dislikes?
Chantix (Varenicline) quit smoking pill?
Is there a site I can go to that will tell me what this pill is? I understand that it is suposed to help someone quit smoking. I know that it is suposed to make someone lose interest smoking. What I would like to know... Is it an antidepressent? How does it work? What does it effect in the brain? So far all I can find is how great it is but it doesn't explain in detail. I tried to ask the doctor but she was in too much of a hurry to get out of the room. I will be changing doctors.

Has anyone tried Champix (quit-smoking pill)?
I gave up easily in January for 9 weeks before the stress hit and picked up the ciggies again. Started Champix again and hoping to quit for good this time. I went a little nuts last time but am not sure if it was a side effect of the drug or an effect of handling stress without my little nicotine friends. Has anyone else any experience to share about Champix?
